Celtic Voyager

Celtic Voyager is a site dedicated to the celts. No not the football team but the people. The celts were in many ways an advanced society and dominated most of Europe in their day. They had a complex legal system and had few peers in the field of battle.

In spite of this most people know little about them if indeed they have heard of them at all. The best known of their descendants today are the Irish and the Scots. But it is not as widely known that the welsh have also descended from this proud people.

The Celts were early Indo-European culture that lived in most of Europe. They had many language dialects their own laws mythology and arts. this has been attributed to the influences of their neighbouring tribes and the influences of the people they conquered.

Their exact origin is shrouded in mystery, but it is thought that their success was partly due to the popularity of their legal system, and of course their warrior's success in battle.

Celtic women faught in battle alongside their men and were seen as equals and in some cases their tribes had a matriarchal society. The sight os a celtic army armed to the teeth, displaying their tattoos (among other things) screaming and roaring like banchees must have been a terrifying sight for any invader to take on.

The celts did not generally believe in the writtne word so most of their traditions have been lost over the centuries.
